Back to School? Not Just for Kids!

Date published: 21st July 2016

After the carefree days of summer many of us start to think about what’s next.  August is traditionally the time when children start school or move up and college and university courses are beginning to get under way.  It’s a time when people often think about learning new skills and gaining new experiences.  At Citizens Advice, although we feel we’re always learning, even we’ve got a renewed focus this autumn.

We’ve got three programmes of training starting between August and September and are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join them.  Training for the Volunteer Adviser role starts on the 17th August in our Dunfermline office or the 20th September in our administration office in Glenrothes.  Both these programmes run for 3 months and are a combination of group sessions, online learning and practical experience.

We also have a shorter training programme for Volunteer Advice Assistants starting on the 18th August in Glenrothes.  This is a new four-week programme with a mix of group sessions and practical experience, designed to prepare volunteers to help clients’ complete complex disability benefit claim forms.

Specific experience isn’t really necessary, we’re more interested in your attitude and willingness to learn but we do ask that prospective volunteer advisers have experience using computers.  More information and how to apply for these roles can be found on our volunteer pages

Applications for the August training should be received by Friday 5th August.
